Margaret Junior School is situated in the small parish of Kasanje in Kulungu District, Uganda. Uganda is one of the poorest countries in the world and until recently few children in rural areas were able to attend school. Following Debt Relief the Government introduced Universal Primary Education (UPE) but it will take many years for the policy to be fully implemented as there are just not enough school buildings or trained teachers in place. Many children have to walk long distances to reach government schools, which is difficult for those who are ill, or whose families require them to work in the fields.

We have received the sad news that Margaret West passed away in her sleep on Monday 28th April 2025. Margaret was the chair and a founder of the charity. She celebrated her 90th birthday with friends in January and was active until her last few days. Without Margaret there would not be a school and she will be greatly missed. She leaves a huge legacy behind.
